All students of Siam University are able to check out books and other materials as per the table below:

Library Policies

  1. Late return of books and other items shall incur a fine, as per the table above.  Late return penalty is counted from the day after due date.  Holidays are also counted.

  2. Please inform the library staff should you return a damaged book or other item on loan, or in case of loss.

  3. If you inform the staff of a book loss or other item loss before or on the due date, you will be charged the amount required to replace the book/asset and a 50-Baht management fee.  If you inform the staff of such loss after the due date, you will be charged twice the price of the replacement, or more according to the length of the delay in informing the library staff.  If you do not take any step to replace such loss, you will lose the right of borrowing any books or asset from the library.

  4. Ignoring the penalty policy described above may incur in being temporary suspended, losing your right to register in the following semester.  Also the university shall deduct any cost incurred and penalty fee from the guarantee paid upon admission.  The Student Affairs Director may decide to take further disciplinary steps if required.

  5. All library users are expected to wear a proper attire - student uniform or polite clothes.  Please do not wear shorts and slippers inside the library.  Also, in accordance with the Thai culture, it is not proper to wear a sleeveless top in a library.

  6. All library users are expected to display a demeanor that befits the place.  Be courteous by turning off the ring tone of your mobile phone and by keeping your conversations as discreet as possible.  Do not make noise or anything that may disturb other people's concentration.

  7. A student identification card is required to gain access to the library services.

  8. Food and drinks are not allowed inside the library premises.

  9. Visitors - persons who are not students or staff of SU - are required to show some identification and sign in the visitors log book upon entering the library premises.  The Director of the library reserves the right to let visitors use the facility.

  10. Books should be left on the reading tables after consultation.  Do not return them on the shelf.

  11. Books and any other asset of the library must be checked out by the staff before taking them off premises.

  12. Cutting, tearing, and/or destroying books or any library properties is strictly prohibited.  Doing so would result in disciplinary actions, such as temporary suspension.

  13. All activities in the library must ceased 15 minutes before closing time, in order to give time to the staff to check the library before closing.

The library subscribes to the following databases, available to all SU students:

  • ProQuest - dissertations and theses
  • H.W. Wilson - journals on topics including: Applied Science & Technology, Art, Business, Education, General Science, Humanities, Library and Information Science, Social Science, Law, General Interest, Biological & Agricultural Science
  • ACM Digital Library - computer and IT topics
  • e-contents - cover and table of content of the latest issues (in portable format) of some of the journals available at the library
  • e-theses - search for theses written by SU students

located on the 3rd floor; it hosts a large collection of DVD and CVD movies; educational videos; etc., as well as multimedia stations where you can view the video
